Benefits of Using a Drawing Tablet
If you use a computer you might be interested in a computer drawing tablet. These devices are made to work with a desktop or laptop computer. They connect to the computer through the USB port and can be used in place of a standard mouse for some types of work. A tablet such as the Windows XP Tablet PC edition, allows users to input information by writing on the tablet instead of using a keyboard. It uses what is termed “digital ink” to create images and writing on the monitor screen.
The main benefit of using a computer tablet is the flexibility it offers people who are in the illustration or design field. The images drawn on the tablet are easily moved into drawing or imaging programs like CAD programs. You can even use them with paint programs such as GIMP. If you’ve ever tried to create an image using freehand drawing with the mouse you know how difficult it can be. Most artists end up sketching or drawing their image on a separate piece of paper then scanning it into the computer. Using a computer drawing tablet eliminates this extra step.
Depending on the type of model tablet you purchase you can even do some degree of shading and rendering of your image. This depends upon the pressure sensitivity of the surface on the tablet. The higher the number is for the sensitivity level, the more you can get varying degrees of line thicknesses. The tablet also helps children learn to draw and use computer paint programs in enhancing their images.
Many artists work from home and submit their finished items via the Internet. If you need to have your drawing or image work on a computer anyway, you would benefit from using the drawing pad because it would save you time over having to draw your work out by hand, then scanning it and having to make readjustments depending how the scan turned out. This is also a beneficial teaching tool for anyone who teaches art or drawing.
Another benefit of the computer tablet is the ability to use it in conjunction with a mouse. Because the tablets themselves are made to be more mobile than using a standard mouse, you can place it where it is more comfortable to use. This greatly reduces the amount of strain placed on a person’s wrist while they are engaged in working on the computer. If you do a lot of surfing type work where you use the mouse a lot you would benefit from having a more flexible work area such as the drawing tablet.
Finally, the tablet is also used to create signature files. If you deal a lot with legal items on the computer it would be helpful to have your client’s signatures on file. You can also use the signatures for personal items such as online tax forms.
It doesn’t work for me. I was wondering if I needed a Java update or something
