New growth point seen in China's digital media industry
Apr. 1, 2010 (China Knowledge) – China’s fast developing digital media industry, including manufacturing and distribution of online gaming, animation, digital audio and video, and electronic advertising, is lucrative, said Rachel Dixon, a senior executive at Viocorp, an Australian Internet broadcasting firm, at the Digital Media Entrepreneurship@KIC, or Knowledge and Innovation Community, an industry workshop that was held in Shanghai and attended by influential digital media experts.
Chinese enterprises engaged in the digital media industry are expected to focus more on assisting users to find digital content and making it more interactive.
The content is important, but when content is exploding, users need help to find what they need, and that is where the profit will come from, said Dixon, adding that the digital media industry has become a core sector to drive low-carbon economic development.
Chinese users of digital media, or people consuming digital content via computer, mobile phone or television, are expected to double to 1.2 billion by 2015, and the industry’s output may triple to RMB 1.8 trillion by then, according to industry sources.
