Baby Gift Baskets Are Multi-Purpose Gift Items

April 7th, 2010

Baby gift baskets are extremely popular as gift items as you can add many things, big or small without breaking your budget and at the same time offering a variety of baby items. Themed gift baskets for the baby are also increasingly becoming popular and these include bath time basket, sleepy time basket, book basket, toy basket or even diapering-necessities basket. As you can see, the choices are endless.

The first thing to keep in mind while arranging a baby basket is the age of the baby. For newborns, either a general basket with an assortment of items works well or if you are keen on a themed approach, the most practical would be the diapers-essentials basket. Wet wipes, some cloth nappies, specific lotions for nappy rash, and a few small towels and of course diapers can all go into this particular basket.

You can even forgo the traditional wicker basket and opt for a large basket which can later be used for holding soiled diapers or clothes. Toy wagons, buckets, laundry baskets can all be decorated imaginatively to make up a diapers basket. These large baskets are also appropriate if you are planning to gift crib quilts, sheets or blankets either as part of your sleepy time theme or as general gifts.

Bath items as well as toys are always welcome in baby gift baskets but should be safe for babies. Make sure that the bath items are gentle, tearless and hypoallergenic and toys are appropriate according to the age of the baby. Rattles, crib toys and perhaps a soft toy are best for newborns.

If you are looking for baby gift baskets for twins, the easiest way is to simply buy two of everything but instead of putting the stuff in one basket, make the effort of decorating two baskets separately even if the twins are sets of boys or girls. Choose different color themes for each basket just to add some novelty to them. For a set of boy-girl twins, of course, two baskets become mandatory and the color theme obviously is blue and pink.

For one-year olds or toddlers, the similar concept of a generalized or themed basket can be used with some modifications. Baskets for this age group need not be restricted to diapers, toys and crib items only but books or music cds can also be added.

Exposing children to books at an early age develops good communication skills and toddlers enjoy listening to stories even if they cannot understand much of it. A book-themed gift basket
