World Record Corn Maze – Helping The Needy

September 10th, 2010

For the past 10 years, the Jaworski family in Dundee Michigan have created Farmer J’s Corn Maze out of one of their corn fields. Visible just off of highway US-23 at Exit 17, the corn maze has drawn thousands of visitors each year since they started making corn mazes a decade ago. This year, the family has decided to change it up and go for some real world records. At the same time, they’ve added a twist to help visitors support their own local or national charity.

Developed using an American theme this year. “We the People” and faces of famous historical figures, Farmer J’s Corn Maze in Dundee MI has turned in claims on 2 Guinness Book of World Records in 2010. The world record corn maze is both the largerst, and it has the longest path. Larger and longer than any other corn maze ever built prior. Farmer J’s world record maze in 2010 holds both distinctions at once. In addition, as is 2 records were not enough, Farmer J’s Corn Maze is attempting to also break the record for the Worlds Largest Torch (flashlight)Lit Parade. On September 18th, 2010, anyone is invited to attend and be a part of the world record breaking attempt. Visitors should show up on September 18th with their flashlight and be there right around 6pm. “It is going to be a lot of fun on the 18th (of September) “says Lyle Jaworski, a third generation agricultural engineer and owner of Farmer J’s. “If we can get enough visitors to come and bring all their friends, we can really do this.”

Of course while a world record breaking corn maze is a sight to see in and of itself, Lyle and the Jaworski family have added another reason to have folks come out and see this one of kind creation. They’ve added the ability for visitors to help their own individual favorite charity. Inside the world record corn maze are 24 checkpoints that visitors can seek out. When reaching a check point, they can check off the accomplishment on a downloadable pledge form, that is available on the Farmer J’s website (worldrecordcornmaze.org). Visitors tracking their checkpoint accomplishments (either on the September the 18th celebration or any day they visit the maze in 2010) can sign up sponsors who bid a specific dollar amount for each checkpoint reached. “This is a great opportunity for individuals or any type of group to raise funds to help out others in need, while having fun getting lost in the biggest corn maze ever made” say Lyle. All Farmer J’s asks is that the visitors to the world record corn maze, report back to them how much was actually raised. Farmer J’s will keep a running total overall and report it out for all to see. In add, they hope to raise millions of dollars for charities during the fall 2010 season. If the fund raising is successful, that may in fact lead to a fourth world record too.

Looking at the possibility of breaking four separate Guinness Book of World Records this year at Farmer J’s in Dundee Michigan and really enjoying all the efforts involved in this monumental task, the Jaworski family have turned their Farmer J’s business into a potentially monumental benefit to the community as well.

Farmer J’s world record corn maze opens in early September, just west of the crossroads of highways M50 and US-23 (exit 17 on US23) in Dundee Michigan. For more information about this record breaking attempt visit worldrecordcornmaze.org
