Hey y’all I like to throw LAN parties and was wondering what kind of setups/games/mods you guys like to use. I want to start this thread to make a collection of everyone’s ideas to share with OCN. So post your obscure CS 1.6 knife-only maps or any random fun mods y’all like. It seems that the more illogical the gametype the more fun they are!

We usually have about 10 people over on a Friday night, spend 3-4 hours installing games and trading files between each other before we even play a game together. However, this is a necessary and fun part of the night. The playlist we usually have is (in order of time played):

- CS 1.6
- UT 2003
- DotA
- Lord of the Rings: BFME I and II
- SWAT
- Combat Arms

After the games are all installed, we play CS for most of the night until everyone wants to switch it up. Some maps we use frequently are mostly fy_ types just because it’s faster paced and gets less experienced players familiar with different guns. Some other maps we play are de_dust1/2, aim_dust, scoutsknives, and random he_dodgeball maps.

UT 2003 we usually play some type of CTF games on 8-10 players maps but games usually decade into massive frag-fests where we don’t really care who caps.

DotA is the game we usually get serious about. This is where we have team captains and everything. People at the party are all team chatting to try to gank people and tensions can get pretty high during these bouts. Which makes winning a much larger accomplishment.

The other games we play are mostly fillers for variety and when people are too pissed at each other to get along on the other games. One thing that happens when we play SWAT is everyone kills their teammates accidentally because the only team-defining mark on a person is a thin red or blue strip on their back.
