Take a peek at the newest animated DC adaptation

Warner Home Video has released a new clip and 4 images from the upcoming Direct-to-DVD film Superman/Batman: Apocalypse, which hits stores in both Blu-Ray and standard DVD on September 28.

The story kicks off with a spaceship landing in Gotham Harbor. That leads Batman and Superman to meet a strange Kryptonian with powers that equal Superman himself. That mysterious person is revealed to be Kara, cousin of Superman, and he soon takes the girl under his tutelage, educating her on all things Earth. Unfortunately for them, the villain Darkseid has ideas of his own. He gains control of Kara and forces her to use her powers for his own bidding. It is up to Batman and Superman to save Kara, but in order to accomplish that they must hunt and battle Darkseid within his own evil world. The duo is faced with unknown dangers around every corner, including a brainwashed Kryptonian that has power enough to face Superman head on.

The new film is based on the DC Comics series/graphic novel Superman/Batman: Supergirl by Jeph Loeb, Michael Turner & Peter Steigerwald. It was written by Academy Award-nominated screenwriter Tab Murphy (Gorillas in the Mist) and is directed by Lauren Montgomery (Justice League: A Crisis on Two Earths).

Tim Daly and Kevin Conroy, the two men known for voicing Superman and Batman, return to those roles here. Andre Braugher is Darkseid, Summer Glau is Supergirl, and Ed Asner contributes his talents as Granny Goodness.
