STAR TURNS ; Celebrities reveal unusual hobbies

SHE is one of the most glamorous and cool women on the planet.

But away from the catwalk, supermodel Kate Moss loves to be at home making jam.

The fashion icon revealed yesterday that she has become obsessed with her fruity new pastime.

Kate, 36, is just the latest in a long line of celebrities to reveal a hidden hobby which is miles away from her wild-living showbiz image.

Queen rocker Brian May is one of the world’s leading amateur astronomers, and actor Sean Bean is an avid bird watcher.

But they’re not the only celebs with hidden talents.

The Aussie pop princess is a Scrabble fiend and says the game is one of her favourite ways to relax.

She shares the habit with fellow celebrities such as Robbie Williams, Mel Gibson and Chris Martin.

The Scots rocker may be more famous for his obsession with leggy blondes and football, but he is also a keen model railwayman.

He was on the cover of Model Railroader magazine three years ago showing off a model of New York’s Grand Central Station.

Jools Holland is another model rail fan, while pop producer Pete Waterman has a passion for real trains. He used to run his own rail maintenance business, which became the world’s largest privatelyowned became the world’s largest privatelyowned firm ofits type before he sold it.

Hit movie The Hangover put Mike Tyson’s collection of pet tigers in the spotlight. He did keep jungle cats at one point but his real passion is pigeon fancying.

At one point, he claimed to own more than 350 of the birds and he attributes his boxing career to the feathery beasts.

The story goes that when he was young, a local bully ripped the head off one of Mike’s birds. He gave the bigger lad a beating and realised his boxing potential.

The Thelma and Louise actress has another string to her bow – she’s great at archery.

In 1999, she was devoting so much time to the sport that she decided to enter the Olympic trials. She came 24th out of 300 and didn’t qualify for the US team for Sydney, but was commended for her performance.

As singer with The Who, you’d expect him to have more of a rock’n'roll lifestyle.

But instead, the veteran star is a keen fisherman. He owns four lakes on his Dorset estate, and breeds his own rainbow trout.

The Layer Cake star has a crafty way to unwind after a tough day filming.

She loves to knit in her free time and it’s a surprisingly popular choice among stars. Geri Halliwell, Julia Roberts, Uma Thurman and even Russell Crowe have all admitted to enjoying a good knit out.

The Ghost star has been collecting dolls for years and now has more than 3000 of them.

Her hubby Ashton Kutcher revealed on Twitter that her huge collection dominated their house in LA and joked that he wants her to move them to a museum as he was having nightmares about them.

The Sharpe and Lord of the Rings star is an avid twitcher.

Inspired by the Ken Loach film Kes, his favourite movie, Bean has owned various birds down the years and also builds bird boxes.

The guitarist abandoned his astronomy PhD to join Queen but has recently completed his studies.

He jets around the world studying stars and watching stellar phenomena, such as comets or eclipses. He is also good pals with Sir Patrick Moore.

He may be the most expensive footballer in the world, but the Portuguese striker loves playing bingo.

The Real Madrid star admitted that he got hooked after getting a DVD bingo game for Christmas one year.

He said: “It can be very exciting because you can be there waiting for a long time for just one number. Then you see one of your friends you are playing against get his lucky number before you.”

RONNIE WOOD The rock guitarist is also a devoted stamp collector. The Rolling Stone and his team of assistants roam shops and websites looking for rare examples to add to his collection. He also paints his own stamp-sized portraits as an artisticdiversion.
