Blow Up Dolls
It’s December 1. I’m officially in the holiday spirit and I refuse to let that joy be overshadowed by neighbors who celebrate by putting blow-up dolls in their front yard.
Well, not those kind of blow-up dolls…gasp. I’m talking about things like the giant Santa on a Harley powered by a noisy generator. or perhaps the 6′ tall Sponge Bob inflatable, complete with Santa hat, that is shrunken on the front lawn during the day, much like a used condom.
Seriously, people, if you’re going to have those shmugly lawn decorations, don’t be cheap. keep them inflated all day so I don’t have to drive by that eye sore of puddled up PVC.
..and Santa rides in a sleigh, not on a Harley. Period.
Dora the Explorer, Thomas the Tank Engine and Bob the Builder inflatables are also on the annoying yard decorations list. Leave the giant balloons to the Macy’s Day Parade. Please.
Then there’s the completely overdone yard. I always have at least one neighbor who thinks their yard looks great when it is showcasing multiple plastic candy canes, a dozen over-sized cheesy candles, two or three inflatable snowmen and the piece de resistance….so many lights that the house looks like it’s on fire.
It’s Christmas not the Walmart-Vegas Strip. Then again, I live in Rhode Island. Enough said.
