Rabies case confirmed in Lattimore

May 14th, 2012

On May 2, Cleveland County Animal Control received a complaint at 301 Westlee St., Lattimore in reference to a raccoon on the property displaying abnormal behavior. the Cleveland County Health Department was notified on May 4 that the raccoon tested positive for rabies. This makes the third rabies case in Cleveland County in 2012.

Residents need to make sure their animals are under their direct control. Animals that are allowed to run loose are at risk of coming into contact with a rabid animal. If your animals are exposed to a rabid animal and not vaccinated, then your animals will have to be euthanized or quarantined for six months.

During the next six months, anyone living in the vicinity of 301 Westlee St., Lattimore should observe their animals for any unusual behavior. in addition, residents need to make sure that all cats, dogs and ferrets have a current rabies vaccination. North Carolina State Law requires all cats and dogs to have rabies shots at four months of age, and require a booster every three years.

Anyone that sees an animal demonstrating unusual behavior needs to call the Cleveland County Animal Control Department at 481-9884.

Of the 1000s of web-based games, a few of them really stand out.

Helicopter is a really high-scoring arcade game that lots of people play. This game is very addictive and you’ll feel very competitive when you play with another person. The point of the game is direct, you’re in control of a helicopter, bringing it up and down to make sure nothing gets hit in its path. there are a few variations of this game, but they all have the same goal – keep your helicopter from hitting walls and obstacles, or it will explode!

The next best arcade game that is pretty addicting is fill It. The game becomes more difficult as the levels go higher and you have to seriously consider your next move. The player needs to fill an area using a ship while staying away from green flying birds. in the later levels you will be required to trap the birds from wandering off and hitting your ship. interestingly enough, there is a Pac Man version of fill It called Pac-Xon which has the same concept.

Arcade games such as Max Dirt Bike are fun and have a straightforward premise. at beginning it may seem bizarre but pretty soon you will find the charm and become addicted to this game. in arcade games, you control the dirt biker through a 2D layout by using the arrow keys. you will have to possess the correct realisation and idea to operate Max , but after you obtain it once , you will begin playing for a long time.

Any version of Bejeweled could be One of the best free online arcade games. you will be addicted whether you play Bejeweled, Bejeweled 2, or Bejeweled Blitz. Classic and Time Attack are the two modes. The approach for both the means are the same; you have to exchange the jewels to make a horizontal or vertical strips twice or more of the identical jewel. 3 Questions to Ask Yourself Before Committing to a Pet

October 11th, 2010

A lot of us pet owners start off the same way. You walked past the pet shop, went inside to browse and fell in love with the cute puppy with the adorable eyes or the nice fluffy bunny. Now you want to take her home. Wait! Ask yourself these questions before committing yourself to adopting a pet:

1) Are you ready to do the dirty work?

Pets, like all animals, require cleaning. Do you have the commitment to give your pet a bath regularly? Worse still, are you prepared to clean up after she poos? Unless you are lucky enough to have someone at home to help, you will most likely have to get your hands dirty on a regular basis.

Owning a pet is sometimes like having a new baby, there is a lot of hard work behind the cuteness!

2) Have you budgeted enough for it?

You may be able to afford buying the pet from the store, but do you have enough to cover the daily costs? You will need to find out how much it costs to feed your pet, not forgetting medical costs of bringing her to the vet and occasional treats such as toys and equipment.

Many owners underestimate the cost of having a pet at home and end up neglecting the poor animal or having them end up in a shelter. Please do not make the same mistake.

3) Do you and any of your family members have any allergies

You many love your pet, but your family members may not feel the same. Worse still, they might suffer from medical conditions that make it inconvenient to own a pet. Unless you are staying on your own, it might be a very good idea to find out from your family if they are agreeable to having a new addition to the household.

These are just 3 things you need to ask yourself before committing yourself to a pet. Remember that while having a new furry friend can be an extremely rewarding experience, it is also a huge responsibility. A good idea would be to not make a rash decision but to take some time to find out more about taking care of a pet, be it a cat, dog, or even fishes. You may want to speak to existing pet owners and find out the challenges that they face. After that, if you are still keen on having a pet, go for it!

Have fun and good luck!
