Introducting Piraeus
Piraeus has been an important Greek city and port from Classical times. The city was planned by Hippodamus, a mathematicaster and a master builder. Further development took place during the times of the early Persian Wars, when Piraeus played a significant role in the Athens defence, as the linking road between the city and port was fortified by high walls. Later, during the Renaissance period, Piraeus was named ‘Porto Leone’,  thanks to the magnificent marble lion statue standing over the harbor. The statue was removed and transported to Venice, where it can still be seen today.

Nowadays Piraeus is the biggest deep water port in Greece, and one of most important in the Mediterranean. From Piraeus, passengers leave for a multiple of destinations in the Greek Islands and beyond.
Athens is just 7 miles from Piraeus, and the majority of tourists will spend the visit in Athens. Athens is a hot, big, heavily-populated and bustling city choked with traffic and people. However at the city’s center stands the magnificent Acropolis, a don’t miss attraction for tourists from all over the globe. Near the Acropolis lies the welcoming friendly district of Plaka, a place full of historic interest, and these two form the main draw for tourists.

Piraeus Cruise Terminals
Cruise ships berth in the Port of Piraeus positioned on the southern side of the city. The port lies in the Saronic Gulf, on the Aegean Sea. Piraeus port is a major ferry terminus, providing a service to the numerous Greek Islands. Greece is composed of a multitude of islands, thus ferry traffic is vital and ferries arrive at and leave from Piraeus round the clock. The cruise ship berths aresituated on the quays to the southern side of the harbor.

Cruise ships moor at Cruise Terminal A or Cruise Terminal B. Cruise Terminal A, approached by entrance E11, is situated in mid-harbour sandwiched by the Mioulis and Xaveris docks. Cruise Terminal B, approached by gate E12, sits at the mouth of the harbor, shielded by the Termistokleous pier. The capacity of the port is around 11 cruiseliners.
