The curvy blonde, engaged to Eric Johnson, could expand her billion dollar empire in a joint venture with celebrity designer Pascal Mouawad.

While no deal has been inked yet, Mouawad — who has collaborated with other A-list stars including Kim Kardashian, Nicole Richie and Bridget Marquardt — said a Simpson bridal line would be a winner.

“I think it would be very glamorous,” Mouawad told RadarOnline.com at the The Hospitality Suite at the Nivea for Men Mansion, which was hosted at his Beverly Hills estate.

The 30-year-old Texan grossed nearly $1 billion through a fashion empire that includes jeans, swimwear, shoes, lingerie and accessories and perfumes.

She and Mouawad have already teamed up to market a collection of affordable watches, which will launch in the fall.

They are so close that Mouawad plans to give her a diamond necklace for her upcoming nuptials.

“I’m still making it right now and it’s also somewhat of a surprise,” he told RadarOnline.com. (Well, it was!)

“No one really knows what it looks like, but it’s something she’ll be receiving shortly.”

Mouawad said: “It will be over 10 carats. I hope she likes it. I’m sure she will!”

Celebrities, in Hollywood for the Golden Globes, picked up gifts from Mouawad, JOICO Hair Care and Pandora.

They were also primped by Mika Fowler of Gavert Atelier salon, George Papanikolas of Andy Lecompte salon and Valerie Beverly Hills makeup.

February 8 Devotional Reading

February 8th, 2011

Our reading for February 8 is Exodus 35-37 and Proverbs 7.

Exodus 35 – KJV1: And Moses gathered all the congregation of the children of Israel together, and said unto them, These [are] the words which the LORD hath commanded, that [ye] should do them.2: Six days shall work be done, but on the seventh day there shall be to you an holy day, a sabbath of rest to the LORD: whosoever doeth work therein shall be put to death.3: Ye shall kindle no fire throughout your habitations upon the sabbath day.4: And Moses spake unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, saying, this [is] the thing which the LORD commanded, saying,5: Take ye from among you an offering unto the LORD: whosoever [is] of a willing heart, let him bring it, an offering of the LORD; gold, and silver, and brass,6: And blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine linen, and goats’ [hair],7: And rams’ skins dyed red, and badgers’ skins, and shittim wood,8: And oil for the light, and spices for anointing oil, and for the sweet incense,9: And onyx stones, and stones to be set for the ephod, and for the breastplate.10: And every wise hearted among you shall come, and make all that the LORD hath commanded;11: The tabernacle, his tent, and his covering, his taches, and his boards, his bars, his pillars, and his sockets,12: The ark, and the staves thereof, [with] the mercy seat, and the vail of the covering,13: The table, and his staves, and all his vessels, and the shewbread,14: The candlestick also for the light, and his furniture, and his lamps, with the oil for the light,15: And the incense altar, and his staves, and the anointing oil, and the sweet incense, and the hanging for the door at the entering in of the tabernacle,16: The altar of burnt offering, with his brasen grate, his staves, and all his vessels, the laver and his foot,17: The hangings of the court, his pillars, and their sockets, and the hanging for the door of the court,18: The pins of the tabernacle, and the pins of the court, and their cords,19: The cloths of service, to do service in the holy [place], the holy garments for Aaron the priest, and the garments of his sons, to minister in the priest’s office.20: And all the congregation of the children of Israel departed from the presence of Moses.21: And they came, every one whose heart stirred him up, and every one whom his spirit made willing, [and] they brought the LORD’S offering to the work of the tabernacle of the congregation, and for all his service, and for the holy garments.22: And they came, both men and women, as many as were willing hearted, [and] brought bracelets, and earrings, and rings, and tablets, all jewels of gold: and every man that offered [offered] an offering of gold unto the LORD.23: And every man, with whom was found blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine linen, and goats’ [hair], and red skins of rams, and badgers’ skins, brought [them].24: every one that did offer an offering of silver and brass brought the LORD’S offering: and every man, with whom was found shittim wood for any work of the service, brought [it].25: And all the women that were wise hearted did spin with their hands, and brought that which they had spun, [both] of blue, and of purple, [and] of scarlet, and of fine linen.26: And all the women whose heart stirred them up in wisdom spun goats’ [hair].27: And the rulers brought onyx stones, and stones to be set, for the ephod, and for the breastplate;28: And spice, and oil for the light, and for the anointing oil, and for the sweet incense.29: The children of Israel brought a willing offering unto the LORD, every man and woman, whose heart made them willing to bring for all manner of work, which the LORD had commanded to be made by the hand of Moses.30: And Moses said unto the children of Israel, see, the LORD hath called by name Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah;31: And he hath filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship;32: And to devise curious works, to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass,33: And in the cutting of stones, to set [them], and in carving of wood, to make any manner of cunning work.34: And he hath put in his heart that he may teach, [both] he, and Aholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan.35: them hath he filled with wisdom of heart, to work all manner of work, of the engraver, and of the cunning workman, and of the embroiderer, in blue, and in purple, in scarlet, and in fine linen, and of the weaver, [even] of them that do any work, and of those that devise cunning work.

Exodus 36 – KJV1: then wrought Bezaleel and Aholiab, and every wise hearted man, in whom the LORD put wisdom and understanding to know how to work all manner of work for the service of the sanctuary, according to all that the LORD had commanded.2: And Moses called Bezaleel and Aholiab, and every wise hearted man, in whose heart the LORD had put wisdom, [even] every one whose heart stirred him up to come unto the work to do it:3: And they received of Moses all the offering, which the children of Israel had brought for the work of the service of the sanctuary, to make it [withal]. And they brought yet unto him free offerings every morning.4: And all the wise men, that wrought all the work of the sanctuary, came every man from his work which they made;5: And they spake unto Moses, saying, The people bring much more than enough for the service of the work, which the LORD commanded to make.6: And Moses gave commandment, and they caused it to be proclaimed throughout the camp, saying, let neither man nor woman make any more work for the offering of the sanctuary. so the people were restrained from bringing.7: For the stuff they had was sufficient for all the work to make it, and too much.8: And every wise hearted man among them that wrought the work of the tabernacle made ten curtains [of] fine twined linen, and blue, and purple, and scarlet: [with] cherubims of cunning work made he them.9: The length of one curtain [was] twenty and eight cubits, and the breadth of one curtain four cubits: the curtains [were] all of one size.10: And he coupled the five curtains one unto another: and [the other] five curtains he coupled one unto another.11: And he made loops of blue on the edge of one curtain from the selvedge in the coupling: likewise he made in the uttermost side of [another] curtain, in the coupling of the second.12: Fifty loops made he in one curtain, and fifty loops made he in the edge of the curtain which [was] in the coupling of the second: the loops held one [curtain] to another.13: And he made fifty taches of gold, and coupled the curtains one unto another with the taches: so it became one tabernacle.14: And he made curtains [of] goats’ [hair] for the tent over the tabernacle: eleven curtains he made them.15: The length of one curtain [was] thirty cubits, and four cubits [was] the breadth of one curtain: the eleven curtains [were] of one size.16: And he coupled five curtains by themselves, and six curtains by themselves.17: And he made fifty loops upon the uttermost edge of the curtain in the coupling, and fifty loops made he upon the edge of the curtain which coupleth the second.18: And he made fifty taches [of] brass to couple the tent together, that it might be one.19: And he made a covering for the tent [of] rams’ skins dyed red, and a covering [of] badgers’ skins above [that].20: And he made boards for the tabernacle [of] shittim wood, standing up.21: The length of a board [was] ten cubits, and the breadth of a board one cubit and a half.22: one board had two tenons, equally distant one from another: thus did he make for all the boards of the tabernacle.23: And he made boards for the tabernacle; twenty boards for the south side southward:24: And forty sockets of silver he made under the twenty boards; two sockets under one board for his two tenons, and two sockets under another board for his two tenons.25: And for the other side of the tabernacle, [which is] toward the north corner, he made twenty boards,26: And their forty sockets of silver; two sockets under one board, and two sockets under another board.27: And for the sides of the tabernacle westward he made six boards.28: And two boards made he for the corners of the tabernacle in the two sides.29: And they were coupled beneath, and coupled together at the head thereof, to one ring: thus he did to both of them in both the corners.30: And there were eight boards; and their sockets [were] sixteen sockets of silver, under every board two sockets.31: And he made bars of shittim wood; five for the boards of the one side of the tabernacle,32: And five bars for the boards of the other side of the tabernacle, and five bars for the boards of the tabernacle for the sides westward.33: And he made the middle bar to shoot through the boards from the one end to the other.34: And he overlaid the boards with gold, and made their rings [of] gold [to be] places for the bars, and overlaid the bars with gold.35: And he made a vail [of] blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine twined linen: [with] cherubims made he it of cunning work.36: And he made thereunto four pillars [of] shittim [wood], and overlaid them with gold: their hooks [were of] gold; and he cast for them four sockets of silver.37: And he made an hanging for the tabernacle door [of] blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine twined linen, of needlework;38: And the five pillars of it with their hooks: and he overlaid their chapiters and their fillets with gold: but their five sockets [were of] brass.

Exodus 37 – KJV1: And Bezaleel made the ark [of] shittim wood: two cubits and a half [was] the length of it, and a cubit and a half the breadth of it, and a cubit and a half the height of it:2: And he overlaid it with pure gold within and without, and made a crown of gold to it round about.3: And he cast for it four rings of gold, [to be set] by the four corners of it; even two rings upon the one side of it, and two rings upon the other side of it.4: And he made staves [of] shittim wood, and overlaid them with gold.5: And he put the staves into the rings by the sides of the ark, to bear the ark.6: And he made the mercy seat [of] pure gold: two cubits and a half [was] the length thereof, and one cubit and a half the breadth thereof.7: And he made two cherubims [of] gold, beaten out of one piece made he them, on the two ends of the mercy seat;8: one cherub on the end on this side, and another cherub on the [other] end on that side: out of the mercy seat made he the cherubims on the two ends thereof.9: And the cherubims spread out [their] wings on high, [and] covered with their wings over the mercy seat, with their faces one to another; [even] to the mercy seatward were the faces of the cherubims.10: And he made the table [of] shittim wood: two cubits [was] the length thereof, and a cubit the breadth thereof, and a cubit and a half the height thereof:11: And he overlaid it with pure gold, and made thereunto a crown of gold round about.12: Also he made thereunto a border of an handbreadth round about; and made a crown of gold for the border thereof round about.13: And he cast for it four rings of gold, and put the rings upon the four corners that [were] in the four feet thereof.14: Over against the border were the rings, the places for the staves to bear the table.15: And he made the staves [of] shittim wood, and overlaid them with gold, to bear the table.16: And he made the vessels which [were] upon the table, his dishes, and his spoons, and his bowls, and his covers to cover withal, [of] pure gold.17: And he made the candlestick [of] pure gold: [of] beaten work made he the candlestick; his shaft, and his branch, his bowls, his knops, and his flowers, were of the same:18: And six branches going out of the sides thereof; three branches of the candlestick out of the one side thereof, and three branches of the candlestick out of the other side thereof:19: three bowls made after the fashion of almonds in one branch, a knop and a flower; and three bowls made like almonds in another branch, a knop and a flower: so throughout the six branches going out of the candlestick.20: And in the candlestick [were] four bowls made like almonds, his knops, and his flowers:21: And a knop under two branches of the same, and a knop under two branches of the same, and a knop under two branches of the same, according to the six branches going out of it.22: Their knops and their branches were of the same: all of it [was] one beaten work [of] pure gold.23: And he made his seven lamps, and his snuffers, and his snuffdishes, [of] pure gold.24: [Of] a talent of pure gold made he it, and all the vessels thereof.25: And he made the incense altar [of] shittim wood: the length of it [was] a cubit, and the breadth of it a cubit; [it was] foursquare; and two cubits [was] the height of it; the horns thereof were of the same.26: And he overlaid it with pure gold, [both] the top of it, and the sides thereof round about, and the horns of it: also he made unto it a crown of gold round about.27: And he made two rings of gold for it under the crown thereof, by the two corners of it, upon the two sides thereof, to be places for the staves to bear it withal.28: And he made the staves [of] shittim wood, and overlaid them with gold.29: And he made the holy anointing oil, and the pure incense of sweet spices, according to the work of the apothecary.

Proverbs 7 – KJV1: My son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments with thee.2: Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye.3: Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the table of thine heart.4: say unto wisdom, Thou [art] my sister; and call understanding [thy] kinswoman:5: that they may keep thee from the strange woman, from the stranger [which] flattereth with her words.6: For at the window of my house I looked through my casement,7: And beheld among the simple ones, I discerned among the youths, a young man void of understanding,8: Passing through the street near her corner; and he went the way to her house,9: In the twilight, in the evening, in the black and dark night:10: And, behold, there met him a woman [with] the attire of an harlot, and subtil of heart.11: (She [is] loud and stubborn; her feet abide not in her house:12: now [is she] without, now in the streets, and lieth in wait at every corner.)13: so she caught him, and kissed him, [and] with an impudent face said unto him,14: [I have] peace offerings with me; this day have I payed my vows.15: Therefore came I forth to meet thee, diligently to seek thy face, and I have found thee.16: I have decked my bed with coverings of tapestry, with carved [works], with fine linen of Egypt.17: I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon.18: come, let us take our fill of love until the morning: let us solace ourselves with loves.19: For the goodman [is] not at home, he is gone a long journey:20: He hath taken a bag of money with him, [and] will come home at the day appointed.21: with her much fair speech she caused him to yield, with the flattering of her lips she forced him.22: He goeth after her straightway, as an ox goeth to the slaughter, or as a fool to the correction of the stocks;23: Till a dart strike through his liver; as a bird hasteth to the snare, and knoweth not that it [is] for his life.24: Hearken unto me now therefore, O ye children, and attend to the words of my mouth.25: let not thine heart decline to her ways, go not astray in her paths.26: For she hath cast down many wounded: yea, many strong [men] have been slain by her.27: Her house [is] the way to hell, going down to the chambers of death.

All Jewelry Store ReviewsA Diamond Thought by the Diamond Insider

Top 29 Blue Nile Search Queries

Here at Jewelry Store Reviews we get a lot of search queries about Blue Nile. This is for good reason. Blue Nile is an industry giant and they’ve been around since 1997. They consistently come up on the first page of Google for common terms like “engagement rings” and “wedding rings,” which is why their sales volume is quite large and their jewelry is very popular.

Anyone familiar with the business world knows, however, that along with being on top comes negative feedback along with positive. We at JSR are not joining the chorus of naysayers, but we thought it may be of interest to our readers to peruse the top 29 search terms we have been getting for Blue Nile to give you a bit of an inside look about the online buzz around the store.

Of the top 29 search queries as indexed by our analytics on this site concerning the online jewelry giant, a surprising 13 of them demonstrate some level of negativity. These search queries are uncontrolled and have not been solicited in any way, and they have not been generated by us.

1) “blue nile” – For #1, this is self evident.

2) “blue nile and rip offs?” These are seemingly prompted by the news of lawsuits involving Blue Nile you can find on any search engine all over cyberspace.

3) “blue nile charm bracelet reviews,” Charm bracelets being one of their more popular products, as they are more affordable than diamonds and therefore sell at a larger volume.

4) “blue nile diamond” – their signature product of course.

5) “blue nile diamond fell out” – People apparently want to know if their settings are secure.

6) “blue nile diamond news” – For the curious to see what’s going on out there with the company in general.

7) “blue nile diamonds review

8)blue nile do diamonds fall out” – a variation of number 5 in interrogative format.

9) “blue nile is a rip off” – Perhaps unfair, as they have been successful for over 13 years and counting, but nonetheless in the top 10 queries.

10) “blue nile jewellery” – Someone from the United Kingdom (note the British spelling of jewellery) wants to know more.

11) “blue nile jewelry locations” – For those who want to find a brick and mortar store of theirs. As of yet, they do not exist.

12) “blue nile jewelry problems” – It would be interesting to know what problems the searcher had in mind.

The pattern continues. We follow with two standard queries, “blue nile mens wedding rings, reviews” and “blue nile or local jewelry store.” This last query probably indicates a user looking to see if he should buy online with them, or go to his local jeweler. Blue Nile would undoubtedly be less expensive, as they have no overhead rent costs for store space.

15) “blue nile return after having a diamond set” – This user wants to know if anyone returned jewelry after picking the wrong diamond for them.

16) ”blue nile return refused” – This happens in most stores. Problems go up proportionally to customer base. the key is to keep them to a minimum, and those in the online jewelry business know all too well that restocking a product means a net loss.

What follows are two positive queries, one about their new iPhone app making waves on the net these days, followed by a standard jewelry query. the next three, however, may raise an eyebrow or two.

19) “bluenile diamond fell out

20) “bluenile diamonds fall out

21) “blue nile lawsuits” – some they have filed against other companies such as Hearts on Fire over branding issues, while others have been filed by customers against them. It is unclear what side of the story this searcher wanted to know.

The next three have to do with overseas delivery for Blue Nile’s international shoppers, reviews, and a BN store, but 3 out of the final 5 have to do with “complaints” and “rip off”.

We don’t want these search terms to discourage you from shopping there, as any online company with heavy traffic will doubtlessly encounter resistance, and they would not be in business for 13 years if their jewelry is just plain bad. We simply wish to give you an informed insider experience, and as an online shopper, be educated and up to date.

Top 5 Tips…

Protect yourself When Buying Jewelry OnlineThe world of the online marketplace is a dangerous one. It is easy to get ripped off or overcharged for an item which may or may not be worth what its price tag actually claims it is. Jewelry is no exception and it is very simple for the consumer to be taken advantage of, lied to and in many cases, treated like a criminal if something goes wrong with the delivery. thus, it seems like that the consumer is at a severe disadvantage when shopping online for jewelry. because of this, here are five things someone looking for jewelry online can do to protect themselves.

1) Research. This is by far the most important thing when shopping online and this is not just limited to jewelry. If there is a great deal on a diamond ring one site, it is still smart to check it on other websites as they might be offering a ring of equal quality for a lower price or slightly higher. in addition to this, make sure to read everything possible about jewelry, from the settings to metals to different gemstones. This will allow the consumer (you) to know about the stones, settings and jewelry pieces and be able to judge if the price is fair or not.

2) Ask questions. Since this is an online purchase, it is not possible to see the jewelry in person prior to purchase. consequently, be prepared to ask numerous questions, both about the jewelry itself and the company. Ask about treatments done to the stones or the metal. do not be afraid to ask about the company’s return policy or the availability of GIA certificates. a legitimate online jewelry company will discuss these issues and provide information upon request. If you know of someone who has purchased from that website before, ask to see their jewelry so you can see the quality of their work for yourself.

3) Get references for the company. References are important because of the large number of diamond scams in which fake jewelers sell jewelry pieces set with glass or fake gemstones for the price of real gemstone or diamond jewelry. a legitimate online jeweler will usually have feedback regarding how the purchase went. in addition, there are different websites which review online store and these can be invaluable when purchasing jewelry online since they contain honest information about the store in question. the best thing is if the consumer knows someone who has purchased from that store and can advise you by word of mouth along with a high score from the Better Business Bureau.

4) Have an independent appraiser look at the piece. most reputable jewelers will allow their jewelry to be appraised by an independent party who will tell the consumer what the actual value of the stone is. This is important because most jewelers have in house appraisers who will not dispute the price tag without valid reason for doing so.

5) Compare with an offline store. Take the information from the online store and compare it with what is in a regular brick-and-mortar jewelry store. This is because the difference between the two prices will allow the consumer to gauge whether the price displayed on the online store is legitimate or not.

WHATAQUEEN.COM – Custom Jewelry Design Using 3D-CADTechnology …

September 9th, 2010

For years custom designed jewelry has been created using old world techniques dating as far back as the 1800?s. Until recently, almost all-custom designed jewelry was created using these methods. The introduction of Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) has changed all that and in it’s wake ushered in a whole new universe of possibilities. Designs that were never thought possible can be made to the highest quality standards.

How is Custom Designed Jewelry Made?

Before learning about the benefits of 3D-CAD you’ll need to know more about the custom jewelry design process. Most jewelry is made using a method called lost wax casting. A skilled artisan/jeweler hand carves a jewelry prototype out of jewelers wax using small scalpels and knives. This wax prototype also known as a “model” is placed in a flask and plaster called “investment” is poured all around the model. Once the investment hardens an exact impression of the model is formed inside of the flask. The wax model is burned out of the flask leaving a cavity of the jewelry design.

Next molten metal is injected in the flask mold using vacuum or centrifugal casting. When the metal cools and hardens the investment is broken away revealing the un-finished jewelry casting. This casting is filed, polished and prepped for assembly, which may include setting the gemstones or welding other precious metal parts to the casting.

The process of hand carving the wax prototype has always been the accepted process for creating custom jewelry. The problem with this process is that the human hand can’t be as precise as a computer-aided machine when carving the model. Precision equates to more design possibilities and much higher quality jewelry production. In the end you’ll have a product that looks crisper and won’t be prone to stone loss or breakage.

What is Computer Aided Design?

Computer Aided Design is a sophisticated modeling process using advanced software to plot coordinates for mechanical drawings. These drawings can be exported to various types of prototyping machines called CNC mills or growing machines. CNC mills cut-away material from a block of wax to make the jewelry model. The growing machines layer material from side to side much like a printer to build the model, samples of this process can be viewed at andrewsjewelers.com/ .The precision of these models exceeds what any human could do while hand carving the jewelry model. Design possibilities become limitless because the 3D-CAD software enables the designer to create parts and design elements that aren’t possible using outmoded tools and methods.

Another benefit of 3D-CAD jewelry design is the ability to see a computer rendering before the final completion of the jewelry. In old methods the jeweler would create crude counter sketches of your concept and the rest would be left to your imagination. Now the designs that the jeweler creates in 3D-CAD can be rendered to photo-realistic images for you to view before making your final decisions.

Choosing a Jeweler for Custom Jewelry Design

Like any other occupation or trade there are good jewelry craftsmen and there are bad ones. It is important to pre-screen your jeweler to determine if he/she is skilled at making custom designed jewelry. Ask to see their portfolio and examine their designs to determine if the flair they have for jewelry design matches your style requirements. Also, pay close attention to their communication and interpretation skills because much can get lost in the translation of your ideas if you’re not careful. Once the jewelry is made its too late to make changes and the typical jeweler will not re-make it again without added fees.

At this point higher qualified and better skilled custom jewelry designers have moved to using 3D-CAD to create their designs. If you feel 2 jewelers are equally matched in aptitude and skills then you should choose the one that is using 3D-CAD design. You’ll pay a little more to have your jewelry created in 3D-CAD but the final results will be amazing. The jewelry will look 1000% better than if it were hand carved and it will last much longer because of the precision of the jewelry model.

Rhythms of Latinofest: Celebration rocks city's riverfront

June 21st, 2010

Downtown Toledo’s Promenade Park, usually home to the occasional runner or a couple looking to relax riverside, came to life Saturday complete with Latin music and mariachi dancers. The 10th annual LatinoFest lasted all afternoon, culminating with a performance by Ramon Ayala, the king of the accordion and four-time Grammy winner.”He is huge. He’s like if we’d bring somebody like Madonna, or Elvis, or Lady Gaga,” event co-chair Consuelo Hernandez said. The festival, sponsored in part by The Blade, was expected to attract about 6,000 people, mostly of Hispanic origin. “We’re here to celebrate, of course, our culture,” Ms. Hernandez said. The crowd arrived early in the day to enjoy local bands, dancers, and about 40 food and merchandise vendors.”We’re going to walk around, buy some stuff, eat supper here, and dance, hopefully,” Susana DeLao of the Perrysburg Heights neighborhood said.

Mrs. DeLao and her husband, Juan, brought fold-out chairs and set up shop in the grass yesterday afternoon to enjoy the mariachi dancers. “I like to see the kind of outfits they wear and to see the different steps,” she said.

The couple also said the festival gave them an opportunity to get together with family.”Most everybody around that has been here for 20, 30 years is somewhat related to us. The families have united through the course of time,” Mr. DeLao said. But their main attraction, like for most in attendance, was Mr. Ayala’s performance. Mrs. DeLao said she and her husband have been fans “since forever.”Ms. Hernandez said the festival has been trying to book Mr. Ayala for years and finally succeeded. She said many in attendance came from out of town to see the musician many consider to be Mexico’s Elvis Presley.”We’ve had calls from as far as Milwaukee,” Ms. Hernandez said. “We’re pulling from all over.”Mr. Ayala is famous for his Norteno music, having put out more than 100 albums and appeared in many movies. Normally, he charges upward of $35 a ticket for a concert, but the festival charged only $10 in advance and $15 at the door.”We want to make it affordable,” Ms. Hernandez said.Angie Montgomery of Fremont, Ohio, said she came for Mr. Ayala’s performance, but also to enjoy a day of good weather and company.”We just came out here to enjoy ourselves,” she said. “Food and see all the vendors, see what they have. Check out the sites.”The festival offered a variety of food, including Mexican, Colombian, and Puerto Rican dishes. Vendors also sold Hispanic clothing, jewelry, hats, and artifacts.Nancy Quero, a vendor who came to the festival for the first time, said the festival’s reputation was what attracted her to it.”I have heard about it and people say it’s very good and a lot of people come,” she said.Mrs. Quero sells handmade clothing and jewelry. She works mainly with wood and seeds to make the jewelry, while her mother and sister in Oaxaca, Mexico, make clothing and send it to her to sell.Mrs. Quero’s tent is set up directly in front of the stage, so in between sales she can enjoy the performances.”They are very good,” she said.Ms. Hernandez said the proceeds of LatinoFest will go toward next year’s festival, which she and the rest of the committee will start planning in August.Contact Sarah Mervosh at: 419-724-6050.
