Roosters have the midas touch for finals football

THE Roosters are this year’s Parramatta.

They have got incredible momentum heading into the NRL grand final next Sunday, just like the Eels had last year.

It can be priceless. I can’t believe this is the same side that finished last in 2009.

They were so clinical and ruthless against the Titans on Friday night. It was perfect finals football.

You can tell they trust each other, they know each other’s games, they are playing for each other.

Everything they touched turned to gold, which is want you want in finals.

It was the best I’ve seen them play all year.

Speak to guys like Gorden Tallis and Nathan Brown, who played under Brian Smith, and they say Smith knows how to set a team up and how to get them to play for each other.

I’ll be honest, I said to them, “Yeah, but he hasn’t won anything”.

But that could all change next week if the Roosters stay on this incredible roll.

When you are in a team that is on fire like the Roosters, it is an amazing feeling and they will ride on that wave of confidence into the big game.

But the Gold Coast boys will be shattered.

They will understandably be disappointed that they are not playing in the grand final.

For the second straight year they have bowed out earlier than they would have anticipated.

The Titans have been so consistent over the past two years and I honestly thought they would be in the grand final.

They will bounce back bigger and better next year.

There are too many quality individuals at that club for them not to be in the hunt again.

Unfortunately, they won’t have Matty Rogers on deck in 2011.

“Rat” has hung up the boots now and the curtain has come down on a great career.
