Recap: New Mexico St vs. Boise State | College Football | Idaho …

October 4th, 2010

Kellen Moore threw three touchdown passes in limited playing time as No. 3 Boise State produced a 59-0 dismantling of New Mexico State.

Moore connected on 13-of-18 throws for 196 yards with two of his scores going to Kyle Efaw. Doug Martin caught a touchdown pass and rushed for another score in gaining 94 yards on 10 touches as BSU ran its winning streak to 18 consecutive games.

Jeremy Avery, Jarvis Hodge and Mike Coughlin each logged a rushing TD for the Broncos (4-0, 1-0 WAC), who dispatched of nationally ranked Oregon State last weekend in their home opener, a game that figures to be the team’s last significant test until a November 26 tilt at Nevada.

Boise State held a whopping 608-208 advantage in total yards of offense.

Matt Christian was 5-of-14 passing for 63 yards with an interception for the Aggies (0-4, 0-1), who have dropped 11 consecutive games, the third-longest active slide in the nation behind only Western Kentucky (24 losses) and Eastern Michigan (17).

The game was essentially over with 15 minutes in the books and Boise up 24-0.

The Broncos opening drive of 67 yards was the longest of four scoring ventures in the first quarter. Moore had consecutive completions of 17 and 15 yards to Titus Young and two plays later Coughlin ran it in for a 15-yard touchdown less than four minutes in.

Christian’s interception deep in Aggie territory had Martin back in the end zone on a one-yard score under three minutes later.

“We were not a good football team to start a game off like that against Boise State. So that was pretty discouraging to start the game. That started the bleeding and it just continued to bleed,” said NMSU head coach DeWayne Walker.

Kyle Brotzman later kicked a 32-yard field goal and Christian fumbled it away on a sack by Michael Atkinson a short time later leading to Avery’s 18-yard touchdown run.

New Mexico State again turned it over on a fumble near midfield and Moore needed just two plays in tossing a 41-yard TD to Efaw for a 31-0 lead eight seconds into the second quarter.

“Our guys played hard, the defense set the tone early, got those turnovers. If we can get that going, you know our guys did pretty well,” said BSU head coach Chris Petersen.

Boise State was finally held off the scoreboard on its sixth drive of the game, but was back in business on the seventh as Moore and Martin hooked up on a 28-yard score for a 38-0 game at halftime.

It was more of the same to start the second half, as Efaw reeled in his second touchdown — a 26-yarder — to cap a quick 71-yard drive with less than 2 1/2 minutes gone by.

Freshman Joe Southwick took over under center from there, and on his second turn directing the offense, aired it out 78 yards to Chris Potter for a touchdown to make it 52-0 after three quarters of play.

Hodge’s 54-yard run to paydirt with under two minutes to play polished off the lopsided win.

“It’s good to get those guys in, get the quarterbacks in so I was pleased about that. Those guys work just as hard as the rest of the guys out there,” Petersen added about his subs seeing extended time.

True Football Manager 2010 / 2011: Football Manager 2011

April 18th, 2010

Saturday, 20 March 2010 Football Manager 2011

As you know the last FM 2010 patch (10.3) was released in the very beginning of March. All of us had already some experience with this version of Football Manager 2010, and now we can start a discussion about Football Manager 2011. Well, there is a half of year to think over new features. Don’t forget also that some of our thoughts here can be taken into account by Sports Interactive development team.

OK, here are some enhancements I would like to see in Football Manager 2011:

- Fix animation bugs in 3D pitch mode. There are still some unrealistic player movements.

- Increase 3D match view performance for low-level video cards. Cool to have an option to disable rendering of substitution benches!

- Get licence for national team of Germany (I don’t like to use fake files to solve such kind of problems ).

- Think over and remake ‘Press conferences’ feature. They are too boring now, I always send Assistant Manager.

- I would like to see total player statistics of all seasons (not only one current season): won headers, goals/shots, accurate passes and so on

- The same history would be good for training progress of my players. I would like to see it for all period when player is in my team (not just 12 months).

- More interaction with fans.

- It would be great to participate more in youth development and invest in youth academy somehow.

So you see I vote for evolutional changes in my FM 2011 ideas not revolutionary ones.

And what new features would you like to see in Football Manager 2011?

56comment(s):

  1. Andrew Says: 20 March 2010 10:19

I would like better training, even though it is already quite good.
other than that, fm11 will be fantastic!

  2. sPoiLtBoI Says: 20 March 2010 10:42

Agree with Andrew, better training is a must. Instead of the current training system, which goes like focusing on attack, defence, technique, etc, perhaps they can include drills which we can customize ourselves?

I would also like to customize our own strategies, something like Pro Evolution Soccer, whereby you get to mobilize the whole team the way you like simply through touchline shouts. For example, assigning player to whatever position and what they do simply by clicking on “Strategy Plan A”.

Lastly, I also hope that they can allow us to do touchline shouts even if we were in “Classic, only commentary view.” (I don’t think this is possible in FM10, correct me if I am wrong)

  3. dwaipayan Says: 20 March 2010 10:58

I wrote the same for FM2010. Remake youth player system. The regens should be playing at Youth Camps n we should be signing them from the youth camps rather that just seeing them join our club automatically bcoz most of them do not deserve to be in the team. I would like to see more options for training purposes. Team line-ups should be more like PES rather than those fixed positions. Minor change that I woukd like to see are: Interaction with non-playing staff should be there.

  4. Vick Says: 20 March 2010 12:16

more in depth tactics like detailed marking and defensive tactics! i hope i goes as an option instead so that it wouldnt be more frustrating for the minimalist.

n yeah, a better training would be nice.

adding some random events that might do good or bad to the club or the team shud make it more fun playin in the long run.

  5. Caleb Says: 20 March 2010 12:31

More interaction with fans would be nice. More interaction with other staff too? Include WAGS and personal problems?

Would still like to view the profile of retired players. Or we can do it already?

Lastly I agree on the match engine. Just afraid it’ll take longer to load and process. ;)

  6. Caleb Says: 20 March 2010 12:32

Just a random question. I love finding young players. And I use Manchester United. How come Welbeck and Macheda stats are low, yet are so expensive, and at times called wonderkids?

  7. Jack Says: 20 March 2010 13:40

I agree with better training and 3d system. Also I think fully custimizuble set-pieces like on Fifa when you actually make the players runs. And the German national team licence think annoys me.

  8. faiz Says: 20 March 2010 14:13

Since as manager, we earn money through our salary and bonuses, how about we utilize it for the club or any other stuff?as a manager my self, i earn up until 40 million through income i receive, but, cant used it.

  9. Peter Says: 20 March 2010 14:20

Yeah interaction with non-playing staff is the no.1 thing i would like to see also personal problems and the media chasing players over their personal lives.

  10. Chris Harrison Says: 20 March 2010 14:38

I wanted this to appear on the last game, but alas, it didnt. So maybe in 2011. My idea is having two pages of the formation setup pitch – one for attacking, one for defending. A lot of teams change formation when they are attacking and vice versa. For example, Chelsea and Man City play 4-3-3 on the attack, but 4-5-1 on the defence. Each player could then have an attacking role and a defensive role, eg. maybe a striker that you want to fall back and pressurise a defensive midfielder, or a winger that you want to double up with your full back on a particularly threatening winger. I think it would add a lot of realism to the game and it wouldnt take a lot to implement it either.

  11. Peter Says: 20 March 2010 15:54

Another one…don’t ALWAYS ask the same questions at press conferences!

  12. hacks353 Says: 20 March 2010 15:58

    totally agree with peter

  13. Mr. Pedrini Says: 20 March 2010 17:46

Yes, more diverse press conferences, and thus make them more important

  14. Rezco Souza Says: 20 March 2010 17:56

The press conferences in FM2010 are very booooring…Variating questions will improve that

Also, i found that sometimes the players act like a fool, although their attributes are good, conditon superb, and superb morale. Improve this, SI :D

And yeah, the earning for user’s manager, simply no use in 2010
Maybe in 2011 we can use it to buy a new suit? :D

How about a spesial version of FM with all classic players in it? :D
I think it’ll be interesting to play classic seasons with new interface,
    bring back the memories :D

  15. apiz arsha-veen Says: 20 March 2010 19:25

well, one thing i think that have been mis-implemented is our wage (manager’s wage)

i mean, board offered improve contract with improve wage, so what purposes is that??

all it cause is the finance raising

i hope we can use our wage to do something….. (be interactive SI, as your name suggests!)

  16. naron Says: 20 March 2010 22:49

I would like to be able to choose several players as primary setpiece takers, so i can play a game without having to edit the tactics to rotate the setpiece takers. And i agree with dwaipayan, The youth regen system needs to be improved.

  17. CFC Ben Says: 21 March 2010 01:23

i agree with most of these things. mostly with the press conferences, they are so dull and give the same questions everytime. just need a bit more inventiveness from the boys at sports interactive.

another thing, do you have just one game on football manager? because i seem to get bored doing the same load data over and over again so i often start new ones. i currently have about 8 games going and i wondered if you did the same. if you do would it be possible for you to make a post about these?

im also doing a game with leeds and im currently in the 4th season. i finished 8th in my first premier league season and i was overjoyed with that. despite having a great strike force, im a little disappointed with my defence. got any good potential signings within a budget of £20million

ps, i also manage the ivory coast national team, as you did on football manager 2009. i was wondering if you were going to try get a national job on football manager 2010?

  18. Richard Says: 21 March 2010 07:36

    He manages Bosnia and Herzegovina

  19. The Annoying Truth Says: 21 March 2010 12:42

I would love to be able to interact with fans more and be able to have better post match press conferences, the only ones I attend are ones after my team, Gillingham, thumped Millwall 4-0 and Yeovil 6-1, and the start of season one and if I win or get promoted that one, and the other special ones, but for about 45 games of a season I will just send my assistant.

Would love to have more realistic team talks as well, i.e be able to say a few different things, and would love for better 3-D as the one at the mo is cool but sucks as it is unrealistic, but very good all the same.

  20. Vitaliy Mokosiy Says: 21 March 2010 13:13

    CFC Ben,
I have only one game in FM 2010 that I play. It’s Leeds story + management of Bosnia & Herzegovina national team.

  21. McGeady (CRO) Says: 21 March 2010 14:13

i just taught of a great way you could be able to spend your manager earnings… being able to bet on matches in your or other leagues you loaded!! it would be lot of fun for sure :)

and then to be able to buy sth with this money…

and i also agree on that bit about training camps!

  22. Liam Says: 21 March 2010 15:29

when they the press talk about a player they should talk about there personal life like divorce affairs family death that kind of thing and also instead of making a manager become a manager that is already there like Alan Shearer Rafa Benitez Alex Ferguson Frank and also put you as a player in the game as a young player or a legand

  23. Laxeyman Says: 21 March 2010 22:34

Hi Vitaliy, I agree with you about press conferences, the questions are all the same, to the extent that you can predict what question is coming next. Also agree with a tweak in the 3d match engine, other than that I really don’t think there’s may faults in FM 2010.

  24. Tommy Kim Says: 22 March 2010 00:55

    A more customizable tactics feature.

  25. miiqqula Says: 22 March 2010 16:36

need ny matchengine.Fm2010 too easy and engine is totally crap.Last save in stoke.played three season and i won 3 premier title, 2 carling cup, 3 fa cup and 2 ucl.best game was away for chelsea.i won it 9-1!!!no need licence to Germany.just delete the fake file.

  26. reddevil1993-2k7 Says: 22 March 2010 21:25

How about after your manager careers over, use the money you have to buy a club and become the chairman?.

  27. labi.3 Says: 22 March 2010 23:29

I want to change some unreal moves from players, for example Pato can take the ball from the defence dribble all opponents and score goal(unbelieveable). I also want to make players more easy to score one-on-one opportunites, because they have 10 chances and score one. No player on the world misses chances with only the keeper to beat.

  28. keshav Says: 23 March 2010 13:34

the amount of saves goalies make is unbelievable… especially Hennessy.. Myhill and proto!!! it’s impossible to score against them even when I have strikers like van persie and Dzeko!! Defensive line should be made better!!! I totally agree wit the salary part.. I was getting 160,000 pounds with Man city…Can’t put it to use at all…
Better youth system..and most of all better match engine… I win against Man utd at home 3-0 and then loose away to hull 4-1… I mean tats totally crazy!!

  29. Damian Says: 23 March 2010 17:49

I’d like to see better man management options. I’ve had players who have a “problem” playing under me, but I have no way to try and resolve it once it arises!

  30. Peter Says: 23 March 2010 17:49

I agree with labi.3. The amount of times my players miss on a one-on-one situation is crazy!

  31. Yohanes Says: 23 March 2010 19:23

i wonder if i can see how much win percentage from our tactics.

  32. labi.3 Says: 24 March 2010 00:19

After some games today something else irritated me. When a winger cuts inside (maybe they don;t have brain) doesn’t pass the ball to a teammate that has easier to score only to put the ball into the net but he looks to shoot from there or to dribble other players and than lose the ball. That’s annoying.

  33. Vitaliy Mokosiy Says: 24 March 2010 08:18

    labi.3,
yes, I agree with the last your opinion. Sometimes those situations with wingers happen…

  34. keshav Says: 24 March 2010 13:40

Also there is this problem with the AI that it doesn’t show their substitutions….my players are so dumb that without giving any instructions they leave a huge gap in the defence which substituted players make full use off and score with even 9 men!!!

  35. Ege Sa??n Says: 24 March 2010 16:32

I think training section should be improved.

Also, even though that the game sucks, Championship Manager 2010 has a brilliant set pieces system where you can order your players to do fake runs to leave a marked teammate in the open and etc. You can have different set piece instructions with direct approaches or passing approaches for every small part of the opponents half of the pitch. The game randomly selects one according to your options and it is performed, not always beautifully but it gives you an amazing freedom. In FM2010 however, you don’t have in depth set pieces tactics and in modern football set pieces are match winning. It would be great if SIGames adopted that approach to set pieces and even added it to the touchline instructions so depending on the opponent we can choose which set play we want the team to perform just before the freekick is taken.

And of course attacking and defensive formations should be seperated

  36. TheGumboVariations Says: 24 March 2010 21:25

Probably already brought up here, and is every year, but I think the possibility of being an assistant would be good. I’m not sure how they would do it, but if they did it I’m sure it would be good.

  37. Groho Says: 25 March 2010 08:13

IMO, I just wanna use my salary to buy something.

It would be very interesting if we can buy some cars, houses, etc.

I don’t want to receive high salary that I can use to buy nothing.

  38. Maxi Says: 25 March 2010 14:31

I would like more options for the team talks. Also i would like to see it have more of an effect. No matter what i say i always seem to get DIDN’T SEEM TO BE LISTENING. Anyone else find this.

Also totaly agree with needing to make use my wage. What a waste.

  39. Kayode_ajaja107 Says: 25 March 2010 15:27

there some impossible to miss chances that word class plays especially Wayne Rooney miss…most times ballooning the ball

  40. The Annoying Truth Says: 25 March 2010 19:43

I 5think that with being an assistant would be boring, all you would get asked to do is go to press conferences, sometimes, maybe do the press conference, sometimes, and at best you woud be asked to create team sheets on who is good, how you rate them e.t.c but in all fairness even that would be rare.

  41. alexandera Says: 26 March 2010 16:11

I would like all the clubs, or ‘premier league’ clubs to be licensed. Also, to be able to make use of the salary you earn. Videos for press conferences….

  42. Liam Says: 26 March 2010 21:28

i would like all the proper badges and kits also being able to become chairman or buy a house with the money you earn and be able to watch your players train and watch interview yourself on the field and could be able to create yourself and in the game

  43. The Annoying Truth Says: 27 March 2010 12:36

You all do know you can use editor to do that

  44. diego Says: 30 March 2010 14:37

I understand that this is not Football management, but I think SI could add a little more “business depth”. It could come as an option, so the users who don´t wan´t it could choose not to use it, for instance:

    - control the ticket prices for each competition and/or game. If I had a important match, I could low the tickets price so my fans would fill the stadium boosting my players morale;

    - control and rent space for the outdoors advertising sponsors or small business that could run into the stadium, like the club´s store, selling items related to the club, or renting space to cafeterias and restaurants, controling park lots, etc. This could only be available if the manager is very well known in the club, or like a second-level management that the board gives to the manager as a reward for its great management, and would free, at least in some parte, the managers dependence on the board.

    - we could make campaigns in the press or something to secure admission of more cative fans, and promotions for whole season tickets;

    - we should be able to hire an acountant or a consulting company to provide inside in some parts of the club budget i.e. “the club is spending too much money on wages”, or things like that.

  45. Vitaliy Mokosiy Says: 1 April 2010 08:09

Guys, thank you for your ideas! There are many interesting among them. I agree it would be good to have better trainings. Current system is decent but not the best, for sure.

If you have any ideas of Football Manager 2011 features, you are welcome to write your thoughts here!

  46. Richard Says: 2 April 2010 12:35

I think it’d be pretty cool if they implemented a loss-of-form system. I.e. They could make Adebayor have periods where he sucks without giving him mental stats worse than Agbonlahor’s v_v

They could reduce stats by a percentage – that way players like Ronaldinho – who is AC Milan’s best player in-real-life – don’t get stuck with crap stats, but have a chance to get better again if the manager handles the situation right.

Also, this could add a new dimension to transfers, as astute managers could read the signs and take gambles on fail-players who they think might settle into their club and get back to the peak of their game.

  47. flano001 Says: 6 April 2010 00:13

i think that you should be able to interact with the players before corners/free kicks/throw ins /penaltys is tell them exactly what you want him to do such as tell them to cross it to the tallest player but instead of him heading it towards goal he could flick it on to another player to pace in the back of the net and you dont have to tell them to do that at the exact moment because you could arrange many different types of corners, free kicks etc. and tell them to do say number 5 and they will do that

another idea is that you should be able to design training drills and you should be able to watch them do the training

I think that after you are done managing you should be able to become chaiman of a club and you should decide wether the manager you have appointed should remain at club or should be sacked

  48. baba Says: 7 April 2010 07:05

cm2010 is the best. its training system is much better than fm. And opposite to general tought, its 3d match engine is much more realistic than fm in my opinion. If cm 2011 innovate its database like fm, the legend will come back!

  49. hans Says: 8 April 2010 20:37

I played an old soccer management game a couple of years ago that had a really good training system. I don’t know the title anymore. With the current one I can’t even pick the days the team trains, or the duration. I would like to see that I can pick fitness on monday from 10 till 11, and shooting from 11 till 11:30. for example.

Also I would like to see the option to have a trainingcamp before the game or beginning of the season.

Inviting own youth players to join a trainingcamp or training session. Just to see how these youths develop.

Press conferences can be more interactive by adding more options. Now I can pick 1 out of 5 options and they are always the same. becomes boring:(

Are these things I said possible you think?

    Greetings from the Netherlands

  50. Arjuna Says: 10 April 2010 09:06

they should make it a bit like fifa manager 10, much simpler.

    there are -contracts sections
-youth team section, all teams including 11-12
    -get kits, faces

  51. fabrewan Says: 11 April 2010 06:38

yup2… the press conference are the same thing over and over again…

maybe could add features about the development of stadiums…fans interaction is needed…

have more details on players unhappiness… it is just so general, not knowing what exactly is needed to do.
most important to improve on those things that are just mostly repeated, especially the press conference, interaction with fans, interaction with players of your own and from other clubs.
to include interaction with the FA of the country would be good…

  52. Vitaliy Mokosiy Says: 11 April 2010 10:34

    Arjuna,
I am sure it shouldn’t be as FIFA Manager 2010. Miles Jacobson will never follow way of EA Sports

  53. Thomas Says: 11 April 2010 13:29

Whenever you request anything from the board the don’t give you it and the ultimatum button still doesn’t work, if they could sort these out fm11 would be a great game.

  54. daN. Says: 13 April 2010 12:58

it would be nice if they could modify the Romanian league, we had 6 teams playing in Euro Cup and no one gives a damn about out teams and players, we have many hot prospects, young players that will turn very good and they suck hard in fm 10!

  55. mladen992 Says: 16 April 2010 22:25

I would like that we can be more interactive in personal life, as manager. For wages that we receive, we can buy all sorth of things, starting from house to weeding ring for your girlfriend. If anyone played Total Club Manager 2004 knows what i mean.

  56. lsworsdell Says: 18 April 2010 12:01

i think you should have a financial sector and you can go to the broad room to make improvements. so then your club can get a lot richer.
