Toy maker Hornby chuffed to bits with sales of model

Toy maker Hornby is nicely on track – thanks to bumper sales of a new type of model train.
The Margate-based firm has launched a dozen sets with steam engines that make a realistic chuffing sound. Hornby, which also produces Scalextric racing kits and Airfix models, is set to make a £5.7m profit this year after a cracking Christmas. That’s £700,000 more than forecast as the surge continued into the New Year. But the figure is down from £6.4m the year before after the company was hit with supplier problems.
