Frank left school at an early age, but was a very successful businessman. He was a coowner of Creeds Roses and took pride in his ability to run greenhouses and supply western Canada with roses. His greatest accomplishments were his marriage to Grace and his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He leaves to mourn his children, Rick (Karen), Sharon (Jack); his grandchildren, Kendra (Andrew), Shaun (Erin), Shannon (Ron), Joanne (Brent), John (Eiko), Bruce (Sandie), and his great grandchildren; Vanya, Ezra, Aaron, Alyssa, Nathan, Aly, Travis, Lyndsay and Carmen.

Also, his brother Gerald, many nieces and nephews and numerous friends. Frank loved his community, was a Friend of Gordon Head, and was an active member of his church. He spent many hours in his garden and gave away most of his produce and flowers. Frank was married to Grace, his wife for 58 years. They worked together, retired early and spent many happy travels in Britain, Hawaii and Palm Springs. They, along with Rick and Karen spent many happy times at their vacation cabin on Hornby Island. Thanks to Reverend Steele, Dr.

Saunders and the caring staff at RJH and RBE3.

A service will be held at St. Dunstan’s Church, 1806 San Juan Avenue on Thursday, April 1, 2010 at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Mustard Seed may be made in memory of Frank. Condolences may be offered at mccallbros.com 5 8 3 7 6 5

NEWTON, Olive Marie (ne¥e Estes) Passed peacefully in Victoria, BC, on February 12, 2010 in her 101st year. Beloved wife of inventor the late Charles G. Newton.

Sadly missed by daughter Marjorie and sonin- law Derek Innes; sister Opal Hethershaw, sisters-in-law Helen Estes and Zola Estes.

She was predeceased by her children Barbara Robertson, Bill Newton, and Judith Robertson, and by her siblings Edna Estes, Carl Estes and his wife Evelyn, Paul Estes, and Dwight Estes, as well as by her sons-inlaw Edward A. Robertson and Howard Robertson (no rel), and brother-in-law Joseph Hethershaw. Dearly loved by her four grandchildren Susanne Robertson, Edward Robertson, Gregory Innes, and Sandra Gentleman (ne¥e Innes), grandson-in-law Robert Gentleman, as well as her six great grandchildren Jennifer and Jeffrey Dodman, Ben and Charlie Robertson, and Olivia and Sam Gentleman. She was a caring aunt to her nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the wonderful care workers from Beacon Community Services who laughed and joked with her daily since 2003.

A private memorial service will be held in May. Donations to your favourite charities would be appreciated. “She is the best judge of character I’ve ever met.” Where shall we go with Olive? To the boardwalk in Atlantic City, New Years Eve 1932? To a wild island in summery Georgian Bay? On an endless train ride in 1919 from an Iowa farm to join her fiance¥ in snowy Montreal? Nay, not to joy, nor to her unspeakable grief. Let’s go to that essence; to that clear-eyed truth telling. To a child: “I’ll pack you a lunch, you go across to the meadow – take the field glasses and see what you can see.” Unselfish counsel that lasted a lifetime. Gramma, Mom, Nana, Olive… genuine and irreplaceable.
