Tips for fall fashion and health
The weather gets colder, the trees get bare and the colds start spreading. Fashion trends change with the leaves and common cold germs spread through the wind.
Sleep
Weve all heard that you need eight hours of sleep a night to function. But lets face the reality here were college students with insane schedules. How much sleep a person needs depends on the persons preferences. If you find yourself falling asleep in your favorite class or looking in the mirror to find a raccoon staring back, try going to bed earlier.
Wash your hands
I know, I know. Youve been told since you were old enough to turn on the faucet, but its essential, especially on campus. Use hot water and soap, and if you cant make it to the sink, there are great antibacterial hand sanitizers that do the trick. Guys can opt for unscented sanitizer and girls can get a variety of scents.
Take a multivitamin
Multivitamins provide your body with antioxidants and minerals to help strengthen your immune system. Dont forget to take these with food. Taking a multivitamin on an empty stomach can make you nauseous.
Drink water
Be sure to keep yourself hydrated. Water helps flush out your system, but eight to 12 cups is nearly impossible. Mix it up a little and throw in a cup or two of your favorite juice. Not only does juice have more flavor than the mundane glass of water, but its loaded with Vitamin C.
Exercise
Walking to classes alone is not going to cut it. Blast the radio and try out your favorite scandalous dance moves, clean your dorm room or apartment, sing in the shower, whatever, just move. It may sound crazy, but a visit to the Student Recreation Center could help you stay healthy and in shape.
Relax
Find a minute to relax and take a break from the go-go-go of college life. Life in general will be more enjoyable if you take a minute to breathe. If you happen to get sick, rest and stay home avoid getting the rest of us sick.
Bundle up
Just because the weather is drab doesnt mean your fashion has to be. Layers are in style and a way to keep warm when walking from class to class. Student life also means you can get away with sweats and hoodies, but for the more fashion conscious, a few items can help make your wardrobe pop.
Scarves keep you toasty and add depth and texture to an outfit. You can have a sophisticated look with cashmere or if you are on a college budget, cotton scarves can give the same appearance. Make it funky with neon colors and crazy designs.
Leggings come in all sorts of colors but black is the safest for all seasons and works well in autumn. Pair them with a loose flowing top or trim tank for a classy look. Colored leggings and a solid blazer are fun for a night on the town.
According to cosmopolitan.com, this years fall colors are dark gold, coral, chocolate, rust, brown, rich Bordeaux, plum, midnight blue, dusty rose and Loden green. Pair and layer these and youre ready to brave the coldest weather and look good doing it.
