Sports digest: Oakland Raiders add defensive line depth by signing former New York Giant Dave Tollefson

The Raiders announced the signing of defensive lineman Dave Tollefson on Saturday. he had five sacks last season as a reserve for the Super Bowl champion New York Giants. Tollefson, 29, was drafted by new Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie in 2006, when McKenzie oversaw scouting for Green Bay. Tollefson also was on Oakland’s practice squad in 2007.

  • a documentary filmmaker said he had the right to release a recording of then-New Orleans defensive coordinator Gregg Williams exhorting his players to physically harm 49ers players. In a statement posted on his website, Sean Pamphilon says he and former Saint Steve Gleason “have a production agreement that I have followed.” Gleason, who has ALS, had been allowing Pamphilon to document his struggle against the disease. The Saints also gave Pamphilon behind-the-scenes access to the team, which allowed him to record Williams speech ahead of a playoff loss to the 49ers in January. Gleason said Friday that he never gave Pamphilon permission to release Williams’ recording. “The public had a right to hear it,” Pamphilon wrote.

    Kei Kamara scored in the first half and host Sporting Kansas City beat David Beckham-less Los Angeles 1-0 to improve to 5-0 in the MLS. The Galaxy is 1-3 after winning the MLS Cup in 2011. Beckham has been plagued by nagging injuries and didn’t make the trip.
