Singing Cadences in Port Melbourne
What do you do when you need to sing and there just isn’t the right group to join? Start a new choir!
Rosemary, Lisa and Robyn are doing just that, and they have chosen Port Phillip as the choir’s home.
Come Saturday, March the 19th, harmonies will radiate from the Sandridge Community Centre in Port Melbourne.
An eclectic mix of world music, jazz, folk, gospel and modern songs will make up their repertoire.
These three lovers of a cappella have sung together in choirs for more than ten years but they have had a break for a while and missed the joy, fun and friendship experienced when singing together.
Singing in a choir promotes physical, cognitive, social, emotional and spiritual well-being and above all is fun!
After attending workshops and festivals, they finally found the right person to lead the group and so formed Cadence Choir. Completing the team is Steph Payne, singer and skilful musical director. she comes to the group with a wealth of experience and inspiring repertoire.
Cadence Choir is putting out a call to arms for all singers to come and join them.
All singing ranges will be needed, especially male! they are hoping to find committed members who are prepared to attend regular weekly rehearsals.
Most of the learning will be taught aurally but minimal sheet music reading could be handy. Fun and humour a definite advantage!
There is no audition but a one month trial period would apply (to ensure blending and bonding).
Cadence Choir will meet Saturdays, 10am-12pm. Sandridge Counity Centre and Trugo Club, Port Melbourne.
