Motorcyclists Donate Toys To Firefighters 4 Kids
COLUMBUS, Ohio —
Hundreds of motorcycle riders came out on Saturday to take a ride and donate toys to the Firefighters 4 Kids toy drive.
The group ABATE, which stands for American Bikers Aimed towards Education sponsored the event.
To ride, each driver had to bring a new toy to the Toys R Us on Groves road.
Nearly 800 motorcyclists participated last year, and the group raised over $18,000.
This year they were hoping to surpass that mark.
“Last year we helped out about 5,000 families, this year we’re hoping to help 6,000″ said David Stuckey, Franklin County coordinator of the event.
After they collected the toys the group took a ride to Screamin’ Willies on Brice road for some lunch.
They participated in an auction to help raise money for firefighters for kids.
The group will start delivering toys to families on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
NBC 4 is a proud sponsor of the Firefighters 4 Kids toy drive.
