There are still live nerves within the bone and the prosthetic put in it's place does indeed exert pressure on those nerves that can be painful. If you've observed a crack in ANY tooth, or in the prosthetic one, it's a dental emergency. Call your oral surgeon immediately - that needs to be dealt with immediately. Like, today and not tomorrow!
