If I understand your question, yes. The angle at which the ball is struck will certainly have an affect on the vertical distance it travels. This is simple physics – Newton's law: every action will have an equal and opposite reaction. So the angle of impact of the force delivering the blow will determine the trajectory of the ball in flight.
The initial trajectory is determined by impact. The height is determined by force and slowed, then reversed by gravity.
This is the entire point of having different clubs in the bag. This is why a higher lofted club will go higher in the air. You can even de-loft clubs on purpose by changing the angle of impact. Find a good set of clubs, a nice practice facility and a laser range finder and go do some experimenting.
